The course "Learning Space Nature" is assigned to the University of Applied Sciences for Agricultural and Environmental Pedagogy. The seminars take place in Burgenland and occasionally also in Vienna. The course is aimed at teachers and all those who want to use cultural landscapes and natural areas as learning spaces which are suitable for children and have educational value.

The course lasts six semesters and comprises six modules. Each module is dedicated to a main topic. The six topics are:

  •     Educational mission - orientation in the field
  •     Working in groups - group theory and group dynamics
  •     Perception and understanding - sensory and cognition
  •     Man and nature - Cultural history of the man-nature relationship
  •     Education for Sustainable Development - Projects and cooperations

Half of each module consists of seminars that are assigned to the  basics, and the other half of seminars belong to the field of didactics and methodology.

In addition to the curriculum "Learning Room Nature", the PPH Burgenland offers a master's degree course in primary level teaching with a focus on Learning Room Nature. It is designed to appeal to all those interested in project based teaching involving external experts and external learning locations. However, it is also intended as a specialisation for graduates with the study focus "Learning Space Nature" in the Bachelor's programme in Primary Level Teaching.

The Master's programme in Primary Level Teaching with a focus on "Learning Space Nature" offers the opportunity to gain practical experience at selected partner schools in neighbouring countries and to integrate the Master's thesis into larger research projects.
