Department of Religious Education and Diversity

Plurality and heterogeneity characterise our contemporary society, diversity and variety are characteristics of our school classes. The acceptance of individuality, reflection of (religious) diversity in everyday school life, inter-religious learning, multilingualism and sustainable education make it possible to see togetherness as enrichment. People can be different without fear.

The Department of Religious Education and Diversity sets the following initiatives and focal points:

  • Quality assurance of religious education through professionalisation measures
  • University courses in the context of habitus and values
  • University course for the extraordinary qualification to teach Religious Education 20 ECTS credits
  • Advanced study programme "Religious Education Studies" 60 ECTS credits = focus on "Religious Education Studies"
  • Extra-occupational studies "Religious Education Studies" for secondary schools in cooperation with the University of Graz
  • Competence Centre Education for Sustainable Development
  • University courses in the context of "Learning space nature"
  • Animal assisted pedagogy - School dog
  • Further and advanced training for elementary school teachers
  • International cooperation with the universities in Zadar, Kassel, Rostock and others
  • Main research areas in the fields of Religious Education Studies and bonding and development
  • Multilingualism in Religious Education - Translation of school and children's books into the languages of Burgenland
