National Competence Center Virtuelle PH

The Virtuelle Pädagogische Hochschule/University College of Virtual Teacher Education is a NCoC (National Center of Competence) – attached to the Private Pädagogische Hochschule Burgenland/Private University College of Teacher Education Burgenland in 2011 – sees itself as an innovation hub for digital education trends. The Virtuelle PH cooperates with all University Colleges of Teacher Education in Austria and offers consultancy on the implementation of digitally innovative teaching and learning concepts on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education.

The Virtuelle PH probes, develops, pilots and evaluates innovative online formats and their use in teacher training and further education. The goal is a transfer of know-how regarding digital competences in school and university teaching.

This enables digital teaching and learning tailored to university lecturers and their respective institutions, teachers and university students. One-hour live online expert webinars (eLectures), intensive online seminars lasting several weeks and compact self-study materials (CoffeeCup Learning, review of eLectures) can be used free of charge and integrated into one's own teaching. Customised formats are also offered in cooperation with University Colleges of Teacher Education. In addition, the annual online conference #digiPH is organised with a specialised programme for university teachers.

The Virtuelle PH also supports and implements current initiatives of the ministry, for instance within the framework of "Digitale Schule - Der 8-Punkte-Plan für den digitalen Unterricht: Distance Learning MOOC", training on webinar didactics, digifolio, digikompP etc.
